I bought brought a little resistor from Ebay to iron out the flat spots on my StreetKa what does it do?
By sticking the resistor in the Inlet Air Temperature Sensor (IAT) signal wire back to the ECU this adds more resistance ie it makes the ECU think the engine is running colder than it is.

The engine maps in the ECU tell the injectors and throttle body how much to open for a given engine speed and engine load   Engine load is made up of a number of factors including conditions such as inlet air temperature, manifold pressure or manifold air flow.

If the temperature is cooler then engine load will be less and the maps will set the throttle body and injectors accordingly dumping a little bit more fuel and air into the combustion chamber resulting in more power.

This is all well and good until the engine is pushed a bit. Hot engine bay temperatures (especially in the Ka) mean that the IAT can quite easily get upto the higher end of the scale. So now the mixture is leaned back a bit because the ECU thinks the IAT is about 80 degrees C. But in fact its not - its running about 10-20 degrees higher so your actual mixture is too lean for the actual engine speed you are running resulting in nasty broken engine-ness
I am trying to replace the OEM air fliter on my Sport Ka with a K&N filter and am having problems, what do I do?
-Remove seemingly useless plastic plenum from top of filter box.
-Disconnect & remove battery & cover.
-Remove rocker-cover breather pipe from RHS of filter box (swings nicely to sit on slam panel).
-Remove the flexi-pipe as previously stated, unclipping the retaining clip carefully on the throttle body and sliding the jubilee clip off the flexi-pipe.
-Unfasten the 2 screws & rubber grommets holding the intake pipe.
-Unclip the 4 spring-clips on the filter box.
-Prise the lug at the front of RHS of the filter box from its rubber seat.
-Push the RH side of the filter box to the...erm...right.
-Open the filter box and wedge the OEM filter into the RHS using a screwdriver.
-Pull the LHS of the filter box up & left like billy-o until the bottom seal of the filter lets go.
-Swear loudly as you bang your head on the bonnet.
-Fit new filter into RHS of filter box.
-Refit LHS of filter box in reverse (barring the bit about your head).
-Remember to reconnect rocker-cover breather to filter box. Saves oil and valeting bills...

The Ka no longer warns me if the lights are on?
The door switch pin, underneath the lock-latch... they get rusty. It's only a spring-loaded pinswitch... squirt a bit of wd40 into it. Check both sides.  Clean the copper-coloured pin contacts that are on the bottom of the tailgate, and also the matching contacts on the boot itself... they get dirty and break the circuit
