Fitting a Spoiler

You will need:
Spolier with fitting kit
Drill
Masking Tape
Silicone Sealant

1. Get your spoiler sprayed in your desired colour.

Also, to keep things neat and damage free put a large cover across your parcel shelf then close the boot. This will catch any metal when drilling.

2. Place the spolier up against the boot to see where abouts the holes will need to be drilled to mount it.

3. There will only be two of the threaded holes that line up with the tailgate. The two holes towards the ends of the spolier aren't needed unless your kit contains the glass clips.

4. Mask the tailgate up around the area that will need to be drilled.

5. Place the two plastic markers in the threaded holes and peal back the sticky film. Place the spoiler on the boot checking it lines up correctly and doesnt foul the bodywork. When the spoiler is in its location remove the spoiler gently making sure the plastic markers remain stuck to the boot. This will mark the location of where you will need to drill

6. Check and then double check that you happy with the alignment of the spolier. When you are ready. Drill the holes into using a small size drill as a pilot hole

7. You will now be left with two holes in the top of your tailgate.

8. Now remove the plastic markers and drill the holes out to the size needed to fit the bolts from the fiting kit.
9. You will now need to redrill the holes once more to drill through the inside of the tailgate. This is so the bolts can be put in place from behind when the tailgate is in place.
10. From the inside of the car drill the hole out so the bolt can be put in place along with a washer if needed.
11. Give all the visable bare metal from the holes you have drilled a paint with a touch up brush to prevent rust. Vacuum up any loose metal from around the area you are working.
12. Now all the holes are drilled its time to put the spoiler in place. We ran a bead of silicone across the mating faces to hold it in place and also prevent and vibration that may be caused from it.
13. Another person would come in handy for the next bit. Place the spolier up against the tailgate and feed your bolts in from the underside of the tailgate. If you lined everything correctly at the start this bit should be easy as all the holes will line up first time.

Tighten the bolts up finger tight and check the alignment of the spoiler again. Wipe away any excess sealant if any has made its way out onto the car. You can use a little loctite on the bolts to make sure they aren't going to come loose.
14. Open and close the boot gently to check it can still be fully opened and closed properly. Hopefully, this should all be fine.
15. Now tighten the bolts up so they arent going to come loose. Put a rubber grommet into the hole on the underside of the tailgate for neatness.
16. Let the silicone dry.
17. If the spoiler came with clips for fitment onto the window, fit these now.
18.Just slide the clip so it tucks in behind the window and lines up the the threaded hole in the spoiler
